Follow Your Soul

You can download this 5” x 7” print for free from my Freebie page. I’ve had various feelings about the saying, “Follow your soul. It knows the way.” I was musing on it the other day, and making this print felt like a meditation. I hope its cool blues and sense of free movement (even within boxes) lend you some peace today!

My Musing:

Our mind can be loud - The din of to-dos, shoulds, breaking news, past mistakes, and future desires.

Our hearts can feel cluttered, even claustrophobic - Pros and cons tangled in heaps, other people’s opinions piled high, logic and feeling webs sticking to everything.

How do we turn down the volume? Where do we find a clean space in which to sit?

Cultivating a calm, quiet moment is a life-long practice. It’s in our repeated attempts we learn to hear the soft, persistent voice of our soul. And it’s noticing those blissful moments when ease finds us where we see our path carved out ahead.

 For my Journalers:

When have you been most successful at quieting your mind and hearing your soul? What lesson(s) can you take from those moments into your day?

For my action seekers:

“Relax, Release, & Return” from The Happiness Plan by Dr. Elise Bialylew (p.88-89)

“When you notice you’ve become lost in thinking, the first step is to relax your body. Often when we get pulled into our mind, we become physically tense without realizing it. The second step is to release the thoughts. Imagine the thought is a helium balloon in your hands, and you’re simply opening your grasp. You can also use each exhalation to release the thoughts, letting them go with each out-breath. The final step is to return to your attention to the sensations of the breath, your anchor. These three words  [relax, release, & return] will remind you what you need to do to stay focused when faced with the constant challenge of a wandering mind.”
